😜 2/3/19 GunGiveaway begins in Notes.app. | Nick Parkland

10 minute read, more if you click. 💣 💥.

The problems of US gun control and international nuclear arms treaties share several similarities in their underlying dynamics, including deeply entrenched ideological divides, complex challenges regarding enforcement and compliance, the balancing of security and individual/state rights, and the powerful influence of domestic politics and lobbying

  • Balancing Rights vs. Collective Security: In both contexts, there is tension between individual/state autonomy and broader community or international security.
    • Gun control: The right to bear arms is often framed as a “cherished individual freedom,” making any restriction a constitutionally and culturally sensitive issue.
    • Nuclear arms: A nation’s right to self-defense and sovereignty is a central argument for maintaining a nuclear arsenal. Persuading states to give up these powerful weapons, seen as the ultimate guarantor of national security, is a major diplomatic hurdle.

This website is not that.

Gun Control = GunGiveaway?

Both the United States and Yemen are distinct from other countries in that they view gun ownership as a basic right of citizenship, and therefore their gun control policies are more permissive. In other countries, civilian gun ownership is considered a privilege and their corresponding gun control policies are more restrictive.

Fade-in: He shoots one robber and the getaway driver dead, and holds another at gunpoint with his Smith & Wesson Model 29 revolver, giving him an ultimatum:

I know what you’re thinking: ‘Did he fire six shots or only five?’ Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I’ve kinda lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself one question: ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well, do you, punk?

Despite surrendering, the robber insists on knowing, and Harry jovially pulls the trigger, revealing the gun is empty.

Note to self:

Might there be an even parity in gun ownership by party affiliation so that a Détente MAD operative will exist in our increasingly fractious and hostile civil society? Mutual assured destruction (MAD) is a doctrine of military strategy and national security policy which posits that a full-scale use of nuclear weapons by an attacker on a nuclear-armed defender with second-strike capabilities would result in the complete annihilation of both the attacker and the defender.

Nick Parkland, editor of GunGiveaway

Find a statistic that shows gun ownership among party lines.

The National Rifle Association’s mid-1970s turn from a marksmanship organization to a political puppet master, for instance, is a clear example of fear metastasizing from industry to politics.

Time for a different tack with more ambition – covert psyops.

Psychological warfare (PSYWAR), or the basic aspects of modern psychological operations (PSYOP), has been known by many other names or terms, including Military Information Support Operations (MISO), psyops, political warfare, “Hearts and Minds”, and propaganda.

78% of Americans do not own guns. (Michael Moore Fahrenheit 11/9)

Our National MAD Policy should also be reflected in Second Amendment rights for U.S. citizens.

The term “National MAD Policy” is not a single, official doctrine but a reference to the US policy of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) during the Cold War. This doctrine is a military strategy and national security policy where if one nuclear-armed nation attacks another, the other nation would retaliate with such overwhelming force that it would cause the complete destruction of both the attacker and the defender.

Raise money and campaign for this.

Arm the people who feel most threatened but are still responsible gun owners. Or are white males going to be the only gun owners. Take down this slave holding shit and then take down the cracker electoral college.

Save our Democracy if it is not already too late.

  • Powerful Influence of Domestic Politics and Lobbying: Internal political dynamics heavily influence policy and treaty ratification.
    • Gun control: Powerful lobbies, such as the National Rifle Association (NRA), wield significant influence in the U.S. political system, often opposing stricter measures and framing them as a threat to constitutional rights.
    • Nuclear arms: While less direct public lobbying, a nation’s military-industrial complex and domestic political considerations can create “veto points” that complicate or block the negotiation and ratification of treaties.

This is not a prank – I want to engage the public in this way. The beast of safety.

The vast majority of gun owners say that having a gun makes them feel safer. And far more today than in 1999 cite protection – rather than hunting or other activities – as the main #1 reason they own guns.

A national survey finds that nearly half of gun owners (48%) volunteer that the main reason they own a gun is for protection; just 32% say they have a gun primarily for hunting and even fewer cite other reasons, such as target shooting. In 1999, 49% said they owned a gun mostly for hunting, while just 26% cited protection as the biggest factor.

The survey by the Pew Research Center, conducted Feb. 13-18 among 1,504 adults, finds that safety also is a major concern among the majority of Americans who do not have guns. Nearly six-in-ten (58%) of those in households without guns say they would be uncomfortable having a gun in their homes. When asked why they would be uncomfortable, more cite concerns over gun accidents and safety than any other factor…

Not to mention the safety of people who don’s chew gum or own guns.

Gun ownership is more common among men than women, and white men are particularly likely to be gun owners. Among those who live in rural areas, 46% say they are gun owners, compared with 28% of those who live in the suburbs and 19% in urban areas. There are also significant differences across parties, with Republican and Republican-leaning independents more than twice as likely as Democrats and those who lean Democratic to say they own a gun (44% vs. 20%).

The Hwasong-17 is believed to be North Korea’s largest and longest-range weapon.

The INF treaty, or Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, was a 1987 agreement between the United States and the Soviet Union that eliminated an entire class of nuclear weapons: ground-launched ballistic and cruise missiles with ranges between 500 and 5,500 kilometers. Signed by Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev, it was the first treaty to reduce an entire category of nuclear weapons, a move hailed as historic, though the U.S. formally withdrew in 2019 after accusing Russia of violating the terms.

The US formally suspended the treaty on 1 February 2019, and Russia did so on the following day in response. The United States formally withdrew from the treaty on 2 August 2019. Russia announced it will no longer abide by the treaty on 4 August 2025.

“Nick Parkland” is not a widely recognized public figure, but the search results suggest it could be a misunderstanding of Nick Land, a philosopher, or a reference to fictional characters like a character in the book Perfect in His Eyes. It’s also possible it is a misspelling related to events in Parkland, Florida, such as the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, which involved a victim named Joaquin Oliver and activist X González, and a former sheriff’s deputy named Scot Peterson
